I need to extract data from a flat file (12MB, 40,000+ lines), text I need to extract is delimited with '|' and resides in 5th column.

Example:
I|23|y|12/31/10|123|517609...
O|0|n|12/31/12|456|517610...
O|0|y|5/31/10|789|517611...

In this case I am looking to extract 123, 456, 789. It would be very nice if I could append specific text, before each number for instance 123 would become 'a-123' etc.

Thank you
