VMWare ESXi 4 will recognise CDs but not DVDs in drive
I have set up an ESXI machine on a HP DC7600.
The virtual machine (w2003) will not read DVD discs.
If I place a CD disc in the drive reads OK, but doesn't recognise the DVD.

try burning an iso of your dvd and mount the iso in a virtual drive, hope helps, regards

How do I do this and will it be accessible from a new virtual machine
ASKER
I would rather sort the problem than have a work around if possible.
Was this an upgrade or a fresh install?
ASKER
This was a fresh install
I had the same prob on 3.5. I forget my actual fix but I worked off this according to my notes:

Is the physical drive a cd/dvd or cdrom only?
ASKER
The physical drive is a DVD drive.
Have you tried just mounting the ISO file. Rather than placing a CD or DVD in the dirve, you just mount ISO file of the CD/DVD.
ASKER
I'm not sure how to mount the ISO file.
