Hi,

Check if you have any antovirus enabled like norton, try to disable it and then recheck.

If that is not the problem then try to access through IP address.

Looks more like a names lookup problem.

Can you ping the computer by name?
Can you connect via IP address, ie \\computer_IP_\c$
Is the system drive definately C?
Hi,

Does the user account you're using to connect have a password?  Sometimes the 'limit local use of blank passwords to console only' security setting is enabled.

Good Luck,

I can ping computername and ip
I cannot connect \\ip\C$ or \\computername\C$

NO Av, No Fw on.
how about \\xx.xx.xx.xx\c$?  instead of using name can you try direct IP
No dice, network path not found again.
And he is on the domain as well.
how about \\xx.xx.xx.xx <enter>

maybe the users admin shares are disabled on the client machine...
Some computers I can remote to and now some I cannot.
I figured it out.
Network discovery and and file sharing was turned off on the clients.
bingo... that would cause the admin shares from not being available.
Okay that got me on 2 of the pcs but the problem pc is still inacessible, I am scratching my head now.

No av or fw,  all shares are availabe to access but I cant.
Hi,

Can you access the other shares from problem PC? also do you find any specific error regarding this issue under problem PC event viewer?

Regards,
Faraz H. Khan
Yes, I can connect to file server and other resources.
Let me look in event viewer. I tired to MMC snapin for event viewer but was unable to connect.
check the security log of the machine you are trying to connect to... there may be some information as to why the connection is not being allowed.
I cannot connect to teh security logs error (5)
Hi,

Just to be sure, you're using a userid that has a password, right?

error 5 = access denied.  You must use an account that has local admin rights on the target machine.
