Can't communicate with the Server Group in Symantec System Center 10

Running Symantec System Center Version 10.1.8.8000
on Windows Server 2003, SP2

When the system restarts due to an upgrade during the evening, the Symantec Antivirus Service does not always start.  I have been able to manually restart it and it will work fine - for a while...now I find that though the system has not restarted, the service will not keep running and that appears to be why I am locked out of the server group as when I go to the service to stop it, there's an error and it appears though it says it has started, it's not actually running.  It is only this first Symantec Antivirus Service that is not running.  The others - Definition Watcher and Event Manager are running.

I am using the correct user name and password and I have tried clearing the cache and rebuilding the group to no avail.

This evening I will restart the server to see if I can get it going on a restart but I am hopeful that there is a solution out there somewhere so we can be sure everything's running as it should.

One other thing to note.....when the system had last restarted for an update and I had manually restarted the service, I was able to get into the system console and view of the information for the computers.  I had left the console open and it was updating just fine - last update on the 11th....then last week Thursday I decided to shut down the console on the server as it was working fine.....I should have left it open.  After that it stopped again.

Hope this wasn't too confusing !!  Thanks!

I restarted the server last night.  This morning I had two errors in the event log .... one was
Symantec AntiVurs services failed to start.  [2000005F]
and the other was
An error occurred during Symantec AntiVirus communications layer intialization. Virus definition and settings management of versions prior to SAV 10.0 has been disabled. The network port (2967) is in use by another application.

The information on this next was
Could not start Service Engine err=2000005F

Of course I then went to services and seen the Symantec Antivirus is set to keep trying to start but it was not running.  I then started it, went to the System Center  and again received the
Error:  Can't communicate iwth the Server Group. Verify network connectivity, and that machines are operating within the Group!
If problems persists, try clearing the Server Group cache and re-discovering all Server Groups.

Again, tried this and nope.

Went back to services and tried restarting the Symantec Antivirus service and received the following:
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line:  1
Char:  1
Error:  Unspecified error
Code:  0
URL:    res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\mmcndmgr.dll/views.htm

I also received a popup yellow window in the lower right corner of my screen advising that symantec was not running to detect viruses.

So...now what the heck do I do or is there another place I can go for answers?

Thank you so much for all of your assistance.
