Unable to remove replica public folders

I am trying to remove the last Exchange 2003 server from an Exchange 2007 organization. I am currently follow this documentation: How to Remove the Last Legacy Exchange Server from an Organization http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905(EXCHG.80).aspx.

I had gotten to the step where I migrate all existing public folders to the Exchange 2007 server. As far as I can tell this is complete (it has been several days). However, I still have replicas of system public folders showing up in the Public Folder Instances. If I try to use the remove replica function, I receive the error:

Can not remove the selected replica(s) because a public folder must have at least one replica.

go to public folder instances  and you will find some PF that haven't migrated yet

right click folder properties on each and go to replication tab

add the exchange 2007 server to the replication list

wait one more day (maybe less if they are not big)

the repeat the same and remove the exchange 2003 from the list

wait one more hour

your are done

Akhater,

I have already done this and have verified that all PF instances are on the EX2007 server. Moreover, they are no longer have the EX2003 server listed as a replication partner. This is the case for all replicas.

himvy,

The replicas are system folders, not public folders. And I cannot access them in the same manner as the PFs to export via Outlook. Moreover, when I look at the Public Folders folder under the EX2003 server, it is completely empty. I may need to manually remove these with ADSIEdit or manually remove the pub1.edb and pub1.stm.

Any other insights?
WC_Tech don't know if u read my previous post but if exchange 2003 is not showing in the replication tab then adsiedit is the way to go.

see my previous post for details

Akhater,

That did it. I really like to get other opinions before I delete with ADSIEdit. However, that did the trick!

Thanks.
