Panasonic Toughbook CF-51 will not turn on.

I have two Panasonic Toughbook CF-51's that have the same symptoms. When the power button is pressed the MP and power LED are lit but it does not turn on the screen or start the bios. The fan does not come on. They both stopped working suddenly and had no symptoms prior to their failure. Although the first one failed after I removed the memory for inspection purposes. The other one, I was told, failed while attempting to plug in a USB device. I have remove the battery, HD, keyboard and CD drive to eliminate them as a possible cause.

OK, I have:
- remove battery and AC adaptor, hold power button for 20 sec, connect AC and reboot --> No display
then
- tried an external monitor with no luck
- disconnect all disk and cd drives, battery , and other cards and peripherals leaving 1 RAM stick int --> No display
- tried again with no RAM --> No display
Nothing seems to work, there are no beep except for the long beep I get while holding the power button down to turn the unit off.
Also the fan does not come on and I have read that is the fan is not working that it tells the motherboard to not work.
Does this sound reasonable? if so how can I test that theory, I only have the two fans that each computer came with.
If the problem is the CPU how can I test that. I don't have an extra working computer that I can use for testing parts, YET. I should get two more CF-51's in on Wednesday.

Just to clarify, I'm looking for a solution that is something other then "replace the PC or mother board".
Thanks for your help.
the fan does not tell anything - except it has no power coming into it.
>>  If the problem is the CPU how can I test that.  <<  that is the question of the chicken and the egg : who was first?
in your case, you need a good mobo to test the cpu, and a good cpu to test the mobo.

did you actually measure the AC adaptor output?
did you try booting from battery alone?

>>  , I'm looking for a solution that is something other then "replace the PC or mother board".   <<   i understand, we all would like that - but it's not always possible...

>>did you actually measure the AC adaptor output?<<   Yes, it's fine I used it on other working CF-51's
>>did you try booting from battery alone?<< Yes, using the battery alone give the same result.
I will be getting 2 more CF-51's in on Wed. if they are a compatible model numbers I will try to swap CPU's and see what happens.
With no RAM you are not getting any beeps it indicates clearly that that mobo/CPU is faulty.
If you can get a good CPU you should swap it in and test.
Also check your AC adapter is working fine.

When you get two more similar sets you will have some parts on hand  to do swapping.
If your AC power cord is working, and no power is coming to the pc, no beeps, etc. except the flashing lights, I am going to have to say the CPU is not the problem, it's the motherboard.
Sounds like bad motherboard is the winner. BTW the "MP light" is the media port light, according to Panasonic. They also said that it is most likely a bad motherboard and offered to fix or replace is for a ridiculous amount. Thank you for everyones help.
Solution was ... replace motherboard.
MP light stands for media port and in most cases with this type of computer means a bad mother board.
Thanks.
tx for the feedback !
