We are looking for a product that will help us manage updates and patches and push them out to all of our workstations and servers. We have 7 workstations and 5 servers but none of them are connected to the internet. We will need a method of importing the updates onto this network to the patch distrobution server. Would something like system center essentials fit our needs, if so has anyone done something similar to this?

wsus, ECM. ECM has better reporting but a pain in the ass to setup. wsus will get the job done for windows stuff ECM you can push other update types.

Microsoft WSUS is the tool for that.

The problem with our configuration is that it is a secure network that is not connected to the internet. Would we be able to open a port on our firewall to access the unsecure network and pull the updates from another server that is connected to the internet?
Commented:
WSUS may support this scenario, by having main server connected to the internet and a downstream server that serves the client.
