IMAP needs to be compiled into PHP for this to function

I need to enable IMAP in PHP.  However everything I find talks about 'complile this' 'compile that'

I cant find any simple step by step for doing this on a Windows box.  Can someone please assist :)

That's because there is not a simple way to do this.

You'll need to compile PHP from the source code. Moreover, since every Windows environment can be a little different, you actually need to go through this entire chapter.

Now that I think about it, most of the extensions are already built into the windows php version.

http://www.php.net/manual/en/install.windows.extensions.php

Make sure your php.ini file has the correct file path for your extensions. If you're not sure where they are, do a search for php_imap.dll, and find all the dlls for your version of php.

Put this folder path in the php.ini file.

Next, uncomment out the extension=php_imap.dll in the php file by removing the leading ;

Reboot.
