Using this ms technet article as guidance, Im attempting to have our wss 3.0 (installed on windows server 2003) upgraded with windows search server 2008 express -
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc297193.aspx
When it was time to select In the Sharepoint Products and Technologies Wizard whether to overwrite existi9ng site or create a new one, we chose creation of a new site on a random port thats available.
The installation gets to step 9 of 12 (installing sample data), and thats where it stops saying that there is an existing Central Administration site on port 5555.
There is indeed a Central Administration site on port 5555 existing in IIS.
as far as I can tell the gui portion of the installation does not allow specification of a different port for Central Administration. wonder if it could be done via stsadm or something similar.
I have also tried changing the port of existing Central Administration to a por other then 5555, however upon running sharepoint products and technologies wizard, the port for Central administration resets back to 5555.
