GoldMine 6.0 - Vendor initialization failed - From Workstation
Hi all,
I'm an IT Administrator for a chain of companies who just decided to start using their old GoldMine server again. We acquired the company who owns the server almost two years ago, and their previous IT person never left any passwords or logins to this particular server such as MSSQL, GoldMine admin, etc.
In any case, I've finally brought the server (Dell PowerEdge 2600) back up to par (it had lost its SCSI and RAID drivers, so that was fun fixing without losing any data) and can log into GoldMine with a regular user account just fine from the server. However, when I try to log in from a workstation, I get the following messages. Keep in mind that the old IT admin told me to simply map the network drive to the shared GoldMine directory, send a shortcut of the executable to my desktop, and specify the location for the server BDEShare folder when prompted. The software should run as intended after that, from what I was told those two years ago. That's the process I've followed, and it does ask me for the GoldMine login when executing the shortcut, but then this comes up:
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- -
Vendor initialization failed.
Context: openDatabase
MSSQL: GoldMine_Sales: dbo.SYNCSITE
1: Alias: GoldMine_Sales
2: File: NTWDBLIB.DLL
BDE Error Cat:Code: [62:7]
BDE: 500 [4/11/1999] GoldMine: 6.00.30203
User: IDANIA
Window: &OK
Template: 7169
Details:
FILENAME: NTWDBLIB.DLL
ALIAS: GoldMine_Sales
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- ----------
And then another window comes up with this:
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- ----------
Vendor initialization failed.
Context: openDatabase
MSSQL: GoldMine_Sales: dbo.SYSLOG
1: Alias: GoldMine_Sales
2: File: NTWDBLIB.DLL
BDE Error Cat:Code: [62:7]
BDE: 500 [4/11/1999] GoldMine: 6.00.30203
User: IDANIA
Window: &OK
Template: 7169
Details:
FILENAME: NTWDBLIB.DLL
ALIAS: GoldMine_Sales
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- --
Then a prompt comes up with the following:
__________________________ __________ ________
Unable to open synchronization files.
__________________________ __________ ________
And lastly this comes up:
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- ---------- --------
Vendor initialization failed.
Context: openDatabase
MSSQL: GoldMine_Sales: dbo.SPFILES
1: Alias: GoldMine_Sales
2: File: NTWDBLIB.DLL
BDE Error Cat:Code: [62:7]
BDE: 500 [4/11/1999] GoldMine: 6.00.30203
User: IDANIA
Window: &Cancel
Template: 7169
Details:
FILENAME: NTWDBLIB.DLL
ALIAS: GoldMine_Sales
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- ---------- --------
Any help is greatly appreciated. I've never worked with GoldMine or its software, and after about two hours of researching on Google, I've come up empty handed.
Thanks a lot!

Thanks! You're a life saver, that fixed it up.
You're welcome.
I have a the same problem, but I do have SQL management studio installed, I connect to
SQL DB's all day. I have ntwdblib.dll on the machine but it refuses to connect to goldmine.
The bbeadmin won't connect either.
I've added an ODBC data source. No joy.
What am I missing?
Thanks
