profiler filtering

When I run a trace in profiler, it hits several hosts - for example, DB Server, App Server, Web Server etc.

1)Is it recommended to just filter out the server you want to monitor performance for? can co-relation between performance of different hosts beneficial for cross-reference?

2)If a user is running the application, i want to just filter his activity. Will all activity generated from his desktop always have his loginname only, or will the service account's login be displayed for his activity, some times? I want to accurately see the performance of the activity generated by him only..

Thanks

One small change in the above statement..

Profiler captures or measures all activities in your SQL Server instance and it might come from various hosts as mentioned above...

Ideally we will use Profiler to measure SQL Server activities and not the specific hosts..
But we can filter it to specific hosts to identify any issues in that particular host..
And hence we are going to measure our SQL Server performance with respect to the host.. ( hope you got the difference)

Kindly let me know if I need to explain more on this

Yes.. You can filter for that particular login name if required to monitor or capture all of the user activities..
