Sage Line 50 Activities issues when stored on a NAS drive

Sage Line 50 is running fine but when we try opening Activities they are taking ages to load (sometimes causing sage to crash), the database is stored on a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo. We have spoken to Netgear and have turned off Fast SIFS rights and Oplocks on the NAS drive.

I expect that under the cover this is a Linux fileserver using Samba.

Turning off oplocks will slow things down more.

The crucial thing for Sage is network bandwidth, it is a VERY heavy network user, you MUST have gigabit networking and have it working well to

I would start by saying that an inexpensive device such as the Netgear DUO has a role to play in I>T perhaps as a backup device, however, for a mission critical application such as storing and serving your Accounting data it is not to be recommended.

How many records have you got in the Audit Trail, what was storing the data prior to this and what version of Sage 50 are you running.  Have you upgraded recently or have you only changed the device storing and serving data for sage.

When I last used Sage Line 50, it was peer-to-peer. I suspect this is still the case, so as Bruce said, the network traffic is significant.

Network Speed needs to be 1000mbps
