Hi

I have a laptop on a docking station. The laptop supports dual monitor, I currently have the laptop screen working with a second monitor attached to the dock via DVI. What I would like to know is, if I attached a third monitor using a DVI splitter, would I be able to achieve tri-screen? 1 laptop monitor and 2 external. I am currently running Windows 7, does Windows 7 support this? Does my hardware support this?

Hardware:

HP EliteBook 8730w
VC261ET
Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.800Ghz
8GB SODIMM DDR-2 800Mhz
NVIDIA Quardro FX2700M
System board - 30EC KBC Version 91.22

If any more info is required please let me know.

Kind regards

not entirely positive but i don't think it's possible with your current setup, you could achieve the 3 screens, however the splitter would just show the same image on both monitors,

if you want 3 independent screens, or say you wanted you desktop to expand across the three monitors, then you'll probably want to look at something like  Matrox's "Triple 2 go" product here:

Hope this helps.

Agreed.

Unless all your three monitors are connected by usb, just like the one in the link below, it is possible to connect to three or more monitors.
