Unable to re-attach orphaned Exchange 2003 mailbox

I have discovered an orphaned mailbox in Exchange System Manager which I need to recover but when right-clicking on the mailbox in ESM all options are greyed out?  It does not show that is deleted or disconnected? Therefore I am unable to reattach to a user account.  The original AD account must have been deleted at some point, but I recreated and still unable to reconnect?  Appreciate any assistance.

Go to the store in Exch Sys Manager and right click on the Mailboxes folder and Run the Cleanup Agent and then try again. Should then be able to reconnect.
