User wants meeting time to default to 60 min instead of 30 min in Outlook

BCSCOPS used Ask the Experts™
I gave them the following instructions to change the default meeting time in Outlook 2003 --

 "In WorkWeek or Month View in your CALENDAR, go to any time period in your calendar RIGHT click, go to other settings, and in the FORMAT  Day/Week etc box, you should be able to see a box that is set to 30 min (upper right corner).  Change it to 60 min. --SAVE SETTINGS if the option is there. Then try to make a meeting.  It should should the time in 60 min increments by default next time you book a meeting."
THE PROBLEM for the user is that now their calendar time slots appear in 60 min increments.  They want the calendar to still show in 30 min increments but they want the default time to appear in 60 min increments when creating a new meeting.  Is that possible?

The only solution I can think of is to use a script to create the appointments.  Something like the one below.  This will create a 30 minute appointment regardless of the time scale setting.
Sub Create30MinuteAppointment()
    Dim olkAppt As Outlook.AppointmentItem
    Set olkAppt = Application.CreateItem(olAppointmentItem)
    With olkAppt
        .Start = Now
        .Duration = 30
    End With
    Set olkAppt = Nothing
End Sub
