Hi,

Is there any difference in creating a contact seperately and a Ntlogin and an Ntlogin with the External SMTP address.

A Ntlogin with a SMTP external email address added. Will there be any difference or is there any preferance.

Can you explain?

A contact in Exchange/AD doesn't have a mailbox whereas a user will normally have a mailbox.

Ok...
I have cases where i need to create NTlogins alone without mailbox and Contacts with external email addresses added for the same Ntlogin users so they are seen in the GAL for the Domain users

usually we create a Ntlogin and a contact for them. External users not the Domain users

In these cases is it the same to create a Ntlogin and add an external SMTP into the NTlogin

One Q...
I have 500 Ntlogins with email address in the email box. is there one easy way to establish a connection into them.
Like when i just right click and say exchange tasks and establish it works.
Can this be done to many in one shot. if Yes. I shall post a related Q...please let me know

Yep :)

Adding the addresses...

I guess it won't let you group select then do them all at once? Probably not if they all have different addresses.

It can be scripted, but it's been a long time since I've had an Exchange 2003 box to test such things against. Unless the other guys can help it's the thing you'd be better making a new question for.

What exactly are you trying to do?
Add multiple external contacts at the same time?

Afraid not.

As Chris said you might be able to script it which would be much easier with Exchange Management Shell but not so easy with Exchange 2003

Pretty sure there's a MailEnable method in CDOEXM which can be used on user accounts (as opposed to CreateMailbox), but without something to test it's a bit tricky.

demazter.
User accounts (Ntlogins)  which have the email address just pasted in the email tab but its not established/Associated with the NTlogin

The same User has a contact. Now my main intention is delete all 500+ contacts and just establish the SMTP addresses within each of the Ntlogins so every Ntlogin is associated

Each Ntlogin has a different email address

Are the addresses internal to the exchange organisation or external email addresses?

They are external addresses

Then without scripting no.

But why do you want to give external contacts mailboxes?

Hey demazter,

As I understood it, he was intended Mail-Enabled users instead of Mailbox-Enabled users.

Effectively a user account with an external mail address, an enhanced contact ;)

Yes chris is right
This will be useed to login to machines and those users use Lotus notes to communicate
I need these added because out domain users can see then in Outlook

Same difference the question is for what purpose?

Why would you create a contact with an AD Account?  If they have no need to authenticate then don't create an account for them!
