I have a packard bell easynote Laptop.

When I turn it on the hard disk lights turn on as does the WIFI icon, however the screen is blank. All I can hear is the fan running, I initially thought the laptop screen was broken,so I hooked it up to an external monitor and pressed fn + f3 - but nothing appeared.

The laptop doesnt even get past the Packard bell screen. Can anyone help me?

Borrow or purchase a laptop POST card.  Plug it into the laptop's printer port, connect the power cable to any available USB port, and see if the POST card produces numerics when the system is started up.  If so, the last displayed numeric code points at where the fatal problem occurred.
