Toshiba Tecra Laptops having trouble connecting to projectors

Hi,
We have a couple of Toshiba Tecra laptops, with Nvidia graphics, that have some issues connecting to projectors.  They will display for a bit, but then the screen will get all squiggly lines and crazy looking.  This only shows on the projector, but not on the laptop itself.
Is there an issue with the video port?  Or is this a software issue.  Any help with this would be great.

Sounds more like the projector cannot handle the refresh rate/ resolution.  Typically if more than one machine is having troubles its the other piece of hardware.  Could also be the video cable if your using the same one.

Hi,

Thanks for the comment.  It's actually happening with two of the projectors that we have.  But they are the same model.  So it could be the refresh rate.  We have tried several different cables with no luck.  Is there a way to modify the refresh rate to see if that helps?
the refresh rate is adjustable in the advanced section of the video settings.  What OS so I can give you better instructions?

you mention the laptops are equipped with nvidia cards, do they have the NVIDIA control panel installed? (Control panel > printers and other hardware (in XP), or just control panel in 'classic view') >> Nvidia Control panel

you should be able to change refresh rate under Display >> Change Resolution, you can also run the multiple display setup wizard from here and see if that'll help you out.

hope this helps your situation!

Hi,

These laptops are running XP and they do have the Nvidia control panel installed.  I can try adjusting the settings today and see if that helps.

Thanks!

I'm going to close this because the user hasn't had the time to get his laptop in the conference room with this projector.  I did make some settings changes so hopefully that will help.  Thanks again for your help with this!
