Change table schema in replicated tables

We are considering upgrading to SQL 2008 from 2000. The biggest anticipated reason is improvements to replication. One thing that I've read but wanted to confirm with someone who actually knows for sure is that I can make changes to table schema in tables being replicated without having to take them out of replication and reinitialize everything... and that the changes will propagate to the subscribers. Is this actually true? Thank you.

You are saying that you know it worked in 2005 for sure? I just have to be sure because it's important to the man with the checkbook paying for the upgrade. :)
I am next to 100% sure.

You can always install and test and see....you don't have to buy as soon as you install.
Thanks.
