How to disable light on laptop

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, running Vista.
I use it to play cds, and if I am going to sleep, I'd like to have the LCD light be "off". Is there any way to do this? If I shut the cover of the laptop, the cd stops playing.

Thanks for any thoughts on this -

You can try and hit the FN key (used for switching between internal/external monitors), or see if the brightness will drop all the way down.....

Believe HP is FN+F4, and brightness is FN+F7 (?? you will see the Icon for it on the f Key across the top)....

Or, you can go to the Control Panel>Power Options>Change your plan settings>Change Advanced Power Settings>Power Buttons and Lid> and select it to "Do Nothing when the lid is closed.....

I went into the power settings and modified the close lid to be "do nothing" - never knew that was there - thanks!

Your welcome!!!

Just remember, if you close the lid and stick it in your bag, it can overheat, since it wont go into standby anymore.....
