Why speed dial sometimes doesn´t work?

My blackberry was updated to the last software available, after that I have noticed that speed dial doesn´t work properly.
The issue is that after making just one call, the speed dial will not work at all, I have to restart it in order to make it work again (remove the battery).

have you tried upgrading the handheld code? it could be a known issue and verizon would have provided a fix for it on their website.

I am a user outside USA, I wonder if verizon solution could be for anyone, how could I upgrade the code that you mention?

I have tried the following without success:
1. Deleting de addressbook.
2. Wipe the handheld.

So, finally I have decided to downgrade the S.O. from version 5.0 to 4.7 AND IT WORKED!
this makes me think that the S.O. 5.0 has some kind of bug.

I'm assuming you're on a CDMA network? could it have been that you upgraded to an incorrect 5.0 version of software? (e.g. 9500, which is GSM?)

Yes I am in CDMA network.

When I upgraded to ver 5.0 was because the desktop manager recommended to do it and never was an option to change de SO version or something like that.

Something that makes me think that is a bug is that only speed dial was giving problems but nothing else.

I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM RECENTLY, ANDE FIGURED OUT THAT YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE SPEED DIAL BUTTON UNTIL YOU HEAR THE PHONE ACTUALLY DIALING THE NUMBER, HOLD IT UNTIL THE END OF THE TONE, IF THIS ISNT DONE PROPERLY YOU WILL GET AN "EXCEPTION" ERROR AND WHEN YOU TRY AND DIAL FROM THE HOME SCREEN, YOU WILL PRESS A KEY ONCE AND IT WILL ACT AS IF YOU PRESSED IT TWICE...JUST RESTART YOUR PHONE AND HOLD THE SPEED DIAL BUTTON UNTIL THE END OF THE DIALING TONE...YOU SHOULD BE GOOD AFTER THAT

I have restored the 5.0 SO and there is still the same issue as before.

I have noticed something extra this time, I have all the numbers pointed to different contacts so after trying successfully any number for the very first time, just the number 3 works normally calling the contact pointed to number 5. And number 9 calls the voice mail (which suppossed to be number 1).

REPLACE THE PHONE, CALL VERIZON AND TELL THEM THE ISSUES, IF YOU BOUGHT THE PHONE WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS THEY WILL GIVE YOU A NEW ONE, IF ITS PAST 30 DAYS THEY WILL SEND YOU A REFURBISHED ONE, THAT SOUND LIKE AN ISSUE THAT YOU CANT FIX.

I brought the phone to my service provider and they say that there isn`t warranty for my device using SO 5.0, so in case I want support I have to downgrade the SO to 4.7

When you call to replace the phone, don't mention to them that you have the 5.0 version. They won't know whether you do or don't have that version, tell them you need a replacement, they won't even ask you what version you have, so don't tell them..worst case scenario you will just have to A. downgrade to the 4.7, and return the phone. Or B. if you have insurance, call the insurance company and tell them to replace your phone. However the insurance company will most likely charge you a deductible, I know with the insurance company that verizon uses they charge $50 as a deductible, so try calling the provider first and don't mention what version you have, if they approve and send you a new phone just wipe the handheld before sending it back.
First of all, I have reported the phone as warranty, the company cheked and returned to 4.7 SO, after performing the upgrade, didn´t work againg, after that and before call the insurance company, I have checked with another users (six) with the same model of phone and all of them have the same issue, so I think this is some kind of bug on SO 5.0.

My company insists on the fact that they don´t bring support for 5.0 SO, so I don´t have any other choice.
