Guide to install HP Proliant ML350 G5 server with RAID 5

jimjoseph used Ask the Experts™

My site office  has an ML350 G5 server with three HDD's configured for RAID 5 having windows 2003 server standard edition installed. This was installed by a third party company which was dissolved and no one is now aware of the administrator password. I tried using the Offline NT  Password and registry editor, but by partition cannot be found as I assume it cannot find the SCSI drivers. Any workaround for this? I was thinking of reinstalling this server from scratch. I have an HP Smart start bootable CD with me and also the disks for Windows 2003 Server standard edition. Could you guide me with a step by step method on how to reinstall this and configure RAID 5?

The smartstart CD is your guide, insert the CD and boot from it and then select System Erase.
You can then follow the wizards through and start completely from scratch.  if you use the smartstart disk it's fairly straight forward.

ok as for the problem, you can use konboot to access the windows:

it works with out touching the harddisc.

as for new installing:

please donwload the firmware-update iso Disc from here and burn it:

update your firmware to the latest version with this disc.

configuring raid:
during startup, a key-kombination will be shown, (i think it is F8) to configure raid. (HP Raid adapter). The combination depends on the build in raid controller, take a look during startup.
please donwload the smartstart iso from here and burn it to a disk:

smartstart enables you to preload all needed drivers for your box.

i assume you use a x32 system.

i you have more question, just ask. i will assist

Thank you for your replies. I would prefer getting into the system rather than going through the pain of reinstalling. I made the image of konboot and came upto a a window which asks administrator password security and asks to enter the the password? What do i enter?
