Outlook will not send email error number 0x800CCC0F

Hi,

I am using Outlook express on windows XP.

I have set up an email account and ticked the little My server requires authorisation box.

I write an email but when I send it I get error 0x800CCC0F - however this will receive emails.

I have disabled the antivirus and firewall service on the PC. and checked my account details by logging in to the webmail service.

Any ideas?

the most likely cause is either that the outgoing server is incorrect, or the server in question requires a specific type of login - or possibly the port you are connecting to is incorrect.

Please can you confirm who  the email provider is, and what you are using as the outgoing mail server?

Are you sure your SMTP server requires authentication? Have you tried Un-ticking that?
Also make sure you typed the server name properly..

hey,

The company providing the email are our web hosing company, they have set up mail.mydomain.co.uk and the username and password.

We can recieve email ok, but when I send I get the error above. If i untick the "my server requires authentication" box it comes up and says this domain is not in my list of RCPhosts, which means i must need to tick the box.

Once ticked I get the same error above.
they should have an FAQ for conecting to outlook - you should confirm the smtp server, and also the port that you should connect on
