Exchange SMTP message limits

My company's database software uses an SMTP connection to send email's.

I could have 5 users sending 1000+ emails at once.
The support company for our database software have raised a concern that our Exchange server may limit the amount of SMTP connections, restricting the amount of emails our users can send out.

How do I check this?

You can check in Exchange System Manager > Administrative Group > First Administrative Group > Servers > Servername > Protocols > SMTP and check the properties of the SMTP server this will tell you what the connection limit is but this is normally for incoming connections.

There is a recipient limit in Exchange 2003 also which can be found in Exchange System Manager > Global Settings >Message Delivery right click and select Properties.
Under the Defaults tab and Recipient Limits but again this is normally for maximum number of recipients per message rather than individual messages.

Would one server connecting to the exchange server count as an incoming connection?

Looking for limits of mass separate emails. (1 recipient per message, but 1000+ messages at 1 time)
may be spam connections

One server connecting would count as one server incoming connection.
There is no limit on the amount of messages that can be sent as far as I can recall.
