Hello,

I have a client who is running Windows XP SP3 , Microsoft Office 2007- Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

His Spell check stopped working in outlook 2007 but not in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

I have read through some of the other suggestions on this site and nothing has worked yet.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Matt

Have there been any changes to the proofing options within Outlook, perhaps turning the spell check options off?  If you visit the options pane in Outlook's Editor options (Tools - Options - Spelling tab - Spelling and AutoCorrection).

Those are all checked on.

I tried turning them off, then back on and still nothing.

Hmm... Outlook 2007 uses the Word spell checker and editing functions as far as I recall.

Next thing to try would be Office Diagnostics (From Outlook goto Help -> Office Diagnostics) and run through the wizard to see if it detects anything.
Are there any Language Packs for other Microsoft Products installed?
e.g. some LPs for Microsoft Project 2000 are actually causing problems with the Outlook 2007 spell checking engine.

I just checked and there are no language packs installed.
I know it sound obvious, but is the option "do not check spelling" in the email language settings unchecked?
Further you could try to rename the file "normalemail.dotm" there's probably something wrong with this template. (The file should be located in C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates)

After many hours of reading and removing items I had no clue was even there.. I figured it out.
Here is how I did it.

1. I removed in regedit:
\\HKEY_Current_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Resiliencey

Which then gave me a error in Outlook 2007;(I could not even read/make a new email.)
I then went into:
2. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
and renamed the files outcmd.dat & outlprnt to   oldcmd.dat and oldoutprnt... (have show hidden files turned on)

3. I launched outlook 2007 which recreated these files and BAM! the spell check started working again.

I dunno if you could just skip the regedit step and just rename the files, seems like that may work.

Anyways.. Thanks for all the help!
