Hi, my friend has an old laptop- a thinkpad T23 laptop and it had several viruses on it, and lots of spyware. I ran some cleanup programs and got it working decent, but I couldnt get it to detect the wireless internet. He said he had some special configuration setup so he thought it would work at his house, so he took it home and it still didnt work.

He brought it back and I told him it would probably be best to format and reinstall. He didnt have any files he needed backed up so I reinstalled xp (it came with xp originally, FYI).

Still even after fdisk, format, and reinstall it wont detect the wireless internet. It detects the wired internet just fine- only problems with wireless. I went to the device manager and it says "network controller" is not installed, and I went to ibm's site as well as ran multiple searches, still can not locate a driver that will install the network controller.

I was wondering if anyone has any sugestions?

Have a look of the Product number on the label affixed at the bottom of your ThinkPad T23 and post the Product number here.

Thanks, it was actually the first one you posted- the Intel PRO/100 VE Ethernet daughter card. I didnt think it would work because when I downloaded / ran the file  it said "do you want to replace the folder......" meaning I had already downloaded and ran that installer some time before I posted the question. It unzipped successfully but never was installed- the "auto install" didnt work. I did it manually and pointed to that folder (uncompressed) and it successfully installed and now the wireless works!

Thanks a million!
