Will Not See Hard Drive

I have a customer's computer, it is an HP Pavilion Elite m9350f Desktop PC. The hard drive went out in it recently, so we are replacing it. However when I begin the reinstall of Vista Home Premium it tells me that the driver for the hard drive is not there and it can not see the hard drive. If I place the hard drive in another system it will install just fine.

Did the Vista copy you are using ship with the PC? Sounds like you don't have compatible motherboard/raid drivers. This is quite common when using addon raid cards as boot drives. You might have to download the storage drivers, put them on a disk and present them to the system when it can't find the drive

This isn't a drive connected to the RAID.  As usual, no installation media was provided & if there was a recovery partition on the old drive it's dead & gone now.  We're using an OEM disk that we've successfuly used in the past.

The HDD is visible in BIOS, but when we boot to the Vista PE it cannot see the drive.  In the past we've changed the SATA mode in BIOS to a more compatible mode, which fixed the problem, but this BIOS doesn't give us that option.
The link to the drivers page for Vista 32 bit is here:

Get the Summer 2008 SATA controller driver. Drop it on a memory pen or disk or something that Vista PE can read and point setup that way when it gets to the option.
