Client just called and one PC which has a static IP of 192.168.0.213 and gateway of 192.168.0.201 keeps changing itself to 192.168.190.104 and gateway to 192.168.190.3 on it's own. Even when I walked her through changing it and you close out of properties it goes back to the bad IP

Subnet remains right and DNS servers stay right

Windows XP PC on a peer to peer networking
Things were working until an hour ago then this began to occur

Does this other ip scheme mean anything to you? I'm not sure if its reverting to  old settings or if its something else. The subnet is probably not appearing to change cause they are probably both just 255.255.255.0. If this is a ip scheme that doest mean anything to you, its could very possibly be virus/malware related. if so i would install malwarebytes on the pc and run a scan while in safe mode.

In command prompt type: ipconfig - what IP address is shown up?
What happens when you reboot the computer (IP)?
What shows up, when you at command prompt enter:

netsh interface ipv4 show address
?

Ip scheme means nothing at all to me. I have two VB scripts that they run to change to a failover system, but oddly those scripts have disappeared off her PC during this whole mess.
Had a gut feeling that malware may be an issue. I will see if they can get malwarebytes downloaded and transfered over to her PC to run it. The PC is 80 miles from me and it's snowing like crazy.
Will note back in a bit
Thanks

Go into "safe mode with networking support" and try to change address from there.

ipconfig shows wrong address even after changes in the properties
After reboot changes back...will try the netsh interface ipv4 show address

Thanks
Commented:
Most probably that will show the same values as ipconfig. Id' suggest to try to change in "Safe mode with networking".
Commented:
you should be able to boot into safe mode with networking (f8 during startup). Once in there make the change, if it sticks, use that time to download malwarebytes, run updates and run a full scan. You could also download from another pc and transfer via flash drive.
