I'm trying to remotely access a users pc using dameware.  I am unable to ping her xp pro computer.  My ip for my xp pc is 10.158.90.104 and the users ip is 192.168.101.60 network.  From my pc I know that port 6129 is open on another pc.   I can use this command successfully.  'telnet 192.168.101.56 6129'  The users firewall is not on.  I also asked her to stop the 'Windows Firewall/ICS service'  I believe there is something else blocking this.  She has no antivirus/internet security software on her pc.  Any ideas?

On the "server" (the computer you're trying to log into), does netstat -an show the port as LISTENING? (I am assuming yes because you telnet'd to it, but just to be sure....).

So, question still stands:

Go to 192.168.101.60, and run netstat -an, and look to see if that port is listening. If yes, we'll chase down the "who's blocking my port" road. If not, we have a different set of actions to take.

If that port is LISTENING, then run this app to get a list of installed programs, and post them here.

how are the 2 computers connected to each other. You both have private ip address. I am assuming you are at a remote location. you need to forward that port from their router to their computer and connect to their internet ip address not their private internal ip address.

I suggest you install logmein on the remote computer so you can access it.

This port 6129 blongs to Dameware remote controle "DRC", make sure it is installed, and started on the target PC.
If it isn't, remove it and re-install it again.
