i have windows 7 pro and am very happy with it, however, i have a program i need to run that always makes the user account control complain. i know how to disable the uac but i was hoping for a more elegant solution such as adding the program to a list of trusted programs. is there such a thing?

Right, click the program file, and go to "properties".  On the compatibility tab, you can set the application to always run as administrator.

You may also try XP Mode which is a free download from Microsoft. I am very impressed by this program
its hard to believe microsoft got something to work right.
