Search on mail in MAC OS X

When I search on my email in the little box at the top-right of my Mail program, it shows results from all the email that there ever was, including deleted mail, sent items, spam, etc. Very overwhelming. How can I make it so it just searches on the various inboxes? Thanks!


P.S. I don't know if it matters, but I'm using IMAP for most of my inboxes

All you need to do is select the inbox or folder that you want to search (on the left hand side) and then type your search - it should then just search that box or folder.
