Restarting your computer is required
I'm running XP Professional. When Windows starts, a window appears with the following header - "Restarting your computer is required." The body of the window has the following text - "The computer must be restarted before updating can continue. Would you like to restart now?" I don't know what app this is associated with, but when I select restart, the computer restarts but the same window reappears. So this is an annoying infinite loop, and I'm not sure to what application this is related. Please help troubleshoot. Thanks, Shanknomore
This seems to windows updates that fail to install. Can you go to safe mode , un install latest installed windows updates (review the event viewer for events related to updates).
boot your computer in safe mode (HOld F8 while the computer turns on),
then select safe mode, then go to start>run> msconfig
then go to startup tab, and unselect all entries except the antivirus one,
restart your computer and try

johnb6767: I ran Process Explorer and found that the process is Adobe_Updater.exe. I have Acrobat Professional 9 installed and also Reader (in order to read certain files in our web based apps which the full version cannot open for whatever reason). I also noticed in Process Explorer that the icon for process named acrotray.exe has a yellow circle with an exlamation mark over the icon. So, can you help me to troubleshoot the main problem which is the window popping up asking me to restart my computer every time I boot up and load Windows?
Thanks, Shanknomore
