Do you want to boot from this HDD in new machine or use it as slave? Sorry I do not get the idea of this plan. <br />
If you want migrate the HDD with OS to dissimilar hardware then you need to adjust the OS to new hardware. I know a good tool that will do that for you.<br />

I'd like to take the hard drive out of an old Dell and put it into a clone machine (faster).<br />
