Rebuild computer

I'd like to take the hard drive out of an old Dell and put it into a clone machine (faster).
I only have the restore image on the drive and fear needing to do an inplace repair.
Can this be done?
XP Pro.

Do you want to boot from this HDD in new machine or use it as slave? Sorry I do not get the idea of this plan.
If you want migrate the HDD with OS to dissimilar hardware then you need to adjust the OS to new hardware. I know a good tool that will do that for you.
Drive Backup 10 Pro: www.drive-backup.com
Its boot CD has P2P Adjust OS feature that disables all old drivers, leaves only generic drivers plus gives you chance to install new drivers without booting into Windows.
You are most welcome. Thanks for the points and best of luck with the project.
