setting up vpn

Hello,
I am setting up a network with remote access to a Windows and Ubuntu machine and wanted a second opinion regarding which hardware/software to run in order to manage network security and provide vpn access remotely.

Will an entry level SonicWall router do this? I am familiar with the Linksys/Cisco WRVS4400N, but it uses ipsec, which slows down the connection abit.

I am looking for an affordable solution that will maximize my connection speed.

Thanks!

An added thought to my question...Is running an open source software like dd-wrt with OpenVPN a viable option in terms of reliability, security and will it support several remote connections at once with vpn clients on windows or linux based computers?
The entry level SonicWall series will do what you want but remember that any VPN technology is going to have some amount of overhead.
There are a 1000 ways to skin the technology cat.

An even more affordable method is to use Smoothwall. http://www.smoothwall.org

This firewall can run very nicely on a P3 machine with 128MB of RAM.

It is very fast to install(under 10 minutes) and has a web based GUI for management and configuration.
