Google Backlink Counter for websites & other Google Commands

Wasn't there a quick easy way to get a rough count of External Links back to a website ... something like going into Google and entering in the search box
"link: www.foobar.com" ?

(without logging in, doing a Verification, etc)

Yep, it's:

link:www.yourdomain.com

on Google.

But, it's VERY, VERY rough, and it doesn't give you a count, just the back references.

Yahoo Site Explorer does the same thing, so you can compare the two. There is also a tool called, "Link Diagnosis":
www.linkdiagnosis.com, that isn't too bad.
