It's best to use SWFObject to embed the SWF into the HTML page rather than using conventional EMBED tag...

As for the sound not playing, you probably need to explain some more on how SWF is supposed to play the sound...  Is it the sound that's embedded inside the SWF or is it an MP3 file that you provide as an argument to the SWF and such stuff...

The SWFObject will get your flash going:

1. Download it here: http://swfobject.googlecode.com/files/swfobject_2_2.zip
2. Extract into your app/site
3. Add the attached code snippet to your page:
<head>
<script src="js/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
.
.
.
</head>

<body>
.
.
.
<div id="flash">
        <script type="text/javascript">
            var so = new SWFObject("your-swfFile.swf", "mymovie", "1000", "620", "9", "");
            so.addParam("wmode", "transparent");
            so.write("flash");
        </script>
</div>
</body>

I don't think that's correct to assume that no correct answer was provided, TheLearnedOne...  As far as I am aware, all the provided answers are valid...  It was just a case where original poster did not follow up...  That's my 2 cents...
