Please what is the effect of formatting CF On Cisco ASA 5510
Hi Guys,
Please what is the effect of formatting CF On Cisco ASA 5510
The device is a sensitive site device which is live, the memory was upgraded from 256 to 512, but it can only see 256, as I was looking for solution on the internet, I came across a previous solution provided by ikalmar on expert exchange (link below),
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24866949/Adding-Compact-Flash-To-CISCO-ASA-5510.html
I wanted to try this solution, but I needed to confirm with you good people, the effect of formatting working/live Cisco ASA 5510.
Guys, I have rebooted the device twice, it does not solve the problem, and I have tested it on another 5510, it came back with the same problem, i don’t know if the solution from ikalmar may solve the problem, but I will like to try it.
Thanks for your response.

Sorry ikalmar, i was away yesterday, i couldn’t get time to look at this.
May I ask you a question, there are two CF slots on the motherboard of 5510, one towards the back of the chassis, and the other one to the front, I upgraded the one at the back, can you please advice which of the slots is the right slot.
I probably could have moved it round, but as indicated in the previous comment, this is a live device, I will have to wait until I can get another downtime.

Thanks again for your reply,
Could you kindly have a look at these two previous comments?
(1) My previous question was
“May I ask you a question, there are two CF slots on the motherboard of 5510, one towards the back of the chassis, and the other one to the front, I upgraded the one at the back, can you please advice which of the slots is the right slot”.
(2) Reference to your last comment
What if I format, the 512 inserted on Sunday, what is the effect on Cisco ASA 5510 configuration and the working functionality?
I guess you will probably understand the reason why I am conscious of doing any thing that may affect the ASA after, I wasn’t the one that configured the ASA, and I may be in trouble if anything happen to the ASA.
Once again thanks for your input
