Exchange Management Console .  Initialize Failed   exchange 2010

it-acumen used Ask the Experts™
Hi Hope you can help!

I have a 2008  server running exchange 2010 - I had a few issues with iis7 so ended up rebuilding it (probably not a good idea) now when i start the EMC I get  Initialize Failed as i am trying to expand the Microsoft exchange on premises container. I am a little unfamiliar with iis7 and exchange 2010 so any help would be gratefully accepted.

exchange services are all started and everything seems to be working apart from OWA i get error 500.

After the installation of the CAS server role did you remove and reinstall IIS by any chance?

yes i did - i know that was not a good thing to do... but its not a production server however i still would like to get it working again.
perfect.. then do one thing instead of rebuilding the OWA virtual directories, I would suggest you to reinstall the CAS server role on the box.

That could take care of all the issues that you might not have seen yet.. :-)
