I have a database on a local SQL Server 2005 Express that is accessed by another application.  After applying a reset of my security for another Internet Explorer 7 installation error I can no longer access the database.

Here is the command line user to reset the security: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db secsetup.sdb /verbose
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949220

Honestly, I have no idea what that command line does, but it did fix my installation problem.  Now this new problem is causing me greef.

I can't acess the database configuration via the management studio, getting a connextion error 40 and an SQL error 2.

The SQL Express service is stoped and when I try to start it i get an error code 3417.

If I use an immage before the fix is applied, everything works fine. Any ideas?

I had the sam error when attempting to start the SQL server on XP pro SP2 machine. Did the following:

Windows control panel -> Performance and maintenance -> Administrative tools -> Services ->right click on SQLEXPRESS -> Properties -> Under Logon tab check Local logon and allow interact with local services…

The start the SQL Express do the same for SQLServer too.
