I was looking on the Cisco website under the IOS section, and I noticed that the IOS for the 3550 stared that it supported private vlans. However, when I go into the switch and try to configure a private clan I do not see the commands for it. Does the 3550 switch support private vlans?

That is not a private vlan.  That is a standard vlan configuration.
Cisco 3550s do not support private VLANs.
