"cell data too large"

I have a user running what I believe to be Excel 2000 and when this person opens a particular file from someone with Excel 2003, she gets the error "cell data too large". Other 2003 users can open just fine, but those with 2000 are getting this error. Any way to overcome this error using 2000?

How has the file been populated? With an XML structure, per chance? Check if there are tags in the text like <table> and exchange them with something like [table] instead.

hmmm...haven't checked that out...but did figure out some sort of solution:
User with 2003 saved .xls file as 'Excel 97-Excel 2003' format and the other user with Excel 2000 was able to open .xls just fine. No "cell data too large" errors.
