Upgrade to a better TFTP server.  Many TFTP servers fail on larger IOS images.

Try Cat Tools http://www.kiwisyslog.com/kiwi-cattools-overview/

or

Solarwinds http://www.solarwinds.com/products/freetools/free_tftp_server.aspx

Hi,

RPPreacher is correct. I had this problem with 3cserver.exe as a tftp server and it would fail on larger ios files.

ASKER

i did try 2 different tftp servers but i will try solarwinds
i tried solarwinds and kiwi still the same thing timed out i have now tried 4 different tftp servers
any other suggestions
What is the size of the image compared to the size of the flash:
image size is 48mb and the flash is 64 so i have plenty of room
Does it always fail at exactly the same point?
no it got to 85% last time
its weird it starts off really fast then crawls super slow and times out
i know the router was working fine until i erased the flash.
i am really stuck on what to do
its doing this now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!......!........!...................!............!.................... etc
Does your 2800 have a USB port at the front?
You may be able to load the ios through the console port using xmodem. Do you have the xmodem command in rommon?
no usb port on the front

yes the xmodem command is there

should i try it on fa0/1
i dont have hyperterminal
Do you have a Windows XP pc?
yes
Windows XP comes with hyperterminal. Go to the start menu, all programs, accessories, communications.
i thought i had a copy of xp but i don't is there another program i can use

hi,

did it work?
Its still running looks like its going to work
Hi,

Did it work?
i can't believe it worked that was a pain and took for ever to copy thanks for your help
what do i need to do to make sure the image stays on ?
What did you mean by stays on?
If I do a reload command will it boot into the IOS ?
Unless you've changed the boot register it should boot into the IOS. (The default boot reg is 0x2102, which should load IOS from flash)

You can also boot from rommon

boot flash:<specify image name>

why would it show this it says no files in flash but i am in the ios
