MT Collector: Failed updating entry in message tracking store

Hi. Notes is generating numerous errors like below

MT Collector: Failed updating entry in message tracking store: [inmsgid]=OFC12576C9.00580B11-ONC12576C9.00580B11-C12576C9.00580AD3 & [inrcp]= (username): The full text index of the message tracking database on the server needs to be rebuilt.

I tried the following but did not solve it...

Tried rebuilding the index of the mtstore db
Tired deleting and recreating the index
I removed mtstore db so that notes created a new one

I am trying to do a compact, updall etc... but getting Db is in use even when disabling the tracking. Though I guess the above won't solve it as even creating a new mtstore didn't !

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I am also now getting many errors "Error full text indexing [mailbox]: File is in use by another program"
on all users' mailboxes!

What Domino release do you run?

The mtstore should be recreated if you
- stop the mtc task
- remove mtstore database
- restart the mtc task

Do you have an anti-spam and/or anti-virus application installed on the server?

It's 6.5

I had stopped the task. removed the Db and Notes recreated a new one but the errors came up again after re enabling message tracking.
BTW: by stopping the mtc task you mean disabling Message tracking right?
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

no virus scanning is enabled on that server... that's what I thought too.
