FM Pro Admin Console Not Working
After a consultant added hard drive space to our server and had some problems, we no longer had access to the FM Pro Admin Console ("Admin Server Connection Error: The Admin Console cannot establish a connection to the Admin Server". We had the same problem with the Trend Micro console, which he fixed by the following solution. Is there a similar solution that will fix the FM Pro console? We've been without it for a month now.

I may have a little more work to do on it to make sure all the clients are checked in, but it seems that changing the DCOM permissions fixed it. It doesn’t quite make sense to me, but DCOM is one of those obscure corners of a Windows-based computer that rarely needs attention, so I’m not too familiar with it.
The below steps came from Microsoft KB 319624.
-- XXXXXXXX
To do this, follow these steps:
1.. Click Start, click Run, type dcomcnfg, and then click OK.
2.. On the Default Properties tab:
1.. In the Default Authentication Level list, click Connect.
2.. In the Default Impersonation Level list, click Identify, and then
click OK.

I asked up further if he was running it locally - on the same server. He said yes.
sorry... so its a basic network/firewall problem, probably the windows firewall settings which have been reset on server.

Thanks, we had a consultant reinstall the FM server and the Admin Console works now. The boss nixed the idea of a FM virtual server. Oh well....
