Greyed out CRM menu and missing CRM tool bar when using MS dynamics CRM Outlook client
I have set up a new role from scratch with limitted premissions in MS dynamics 4.0.
I assign the role to a user they cant connect to the Dynamics (The CRM menu is greyed out and when you click on any of the CRM folders in the left pane you get the following message "This folder cannot be opened until Microsoft dynamics CRM for outlook is enabled".
The user is not assigned to any other role.
If I assign the user to any one of the pre defined roles I get the normal expected behavior.
Which permission is my custom defined role missing ?

Settings > Administration > Security Roles
1. Double-click the role that is having the issue.
2. Check the "Business Management" tab
3. Under Miscellaneous Privileges, check the following two settings:
Sync to Outlook - A privilege required to synchronize Microsoft Office Outlook information to Microsoft Dynamics CRM information.
Go Offline - A privilege required to use in offline mode (disconnected from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server).
Failing that, what Rollup are you on for both server and client? Is it the offline client or simply connected?

Both Sync to Outlook , and Go Offline previleges have been selected.
- Login to the computer as the user having the issue
- Look in the task tray for the Dynamics CRM icon (looks like three sails)
- Right-click and "Enable CRM"
If you don't have that option, let me know what options you have when you hover over the icon and when your right-click the option.
Let me know how it goes.

If you provide the answer to my last request, we may be able to help further. What options did you get when you hover over the icon in the task tray? What if you right-click the task tray icon?
Without those answers, I can't offer you further suggestions.
