Not able to assign a drive letter to external USB drive
Hi,
I've just bought a WD my book studio edition II , its a 2tb raid 1 external HDD. I'm connecting it to my windows 7 pro x64 bit pc. I can see the drive in disk management, but it isnt assigned a letter and I dont have the option to assign a drive letter. my only options are;
New Spanned Volume
New Striped Volume
New Mirrored Volume
Convert To Dymanic Disk
I want to use this drive to store Desktop / Laptop images and backups, so it wont be attached to the same PC all the time.
can anyone advise what the best way to sort this out is? I just want to use it as a regular usb drive!

Delete whole partition table and make new logical partition as many as you want. Then format it.
