pre population for re activated accounts on Blackberry Server
Hi
We have a couple of blackberry servers, both version 4.1 and 5 with Exchange 2003
We have had a few issues where users contacts / notes etc failed to sync so we removed there account and re added, they now do not get any historic emails at all, only new ones from the poiint of re activation.
Is there a way i can change this, our pre population setting is default 5 days / 200 emails.
Thanks
Nick

How long did you leave it from when you deleted them off the BES until you re-added them?

Hi
not long, a minute or 2
Do i need to leave it for a period of time, by default should it pre populate re activated blackberrys or is it just new accounts / handhelds
Thanks

Yes, you delete them and wait until they disappear from the "awaiting delete/purge" folder before re-adding them to the BES and re-activating them.
I can't remember the exact folder name that the BES puts them because I no longer have access to a BES.
From what I remember it can take up to 15 minutes before the BES fully deletes a BES account and the Blackberry synch info from the users mailbox, so if you re-add a user after 15 minutes of the delete it should definitely synch the 200 pre population messages.
BES 5 has option to "Delete user and remove BlackBerry info from user's mail system" which clears up Exchange's BB hidden folder, so that when (re)adding, the mailbox recreates this folder and therefore set everything as new. Otherwise, this hidden folder might still keep track of what was synced.

In BES4 they go into "Awaiting purge" and then you can manually purge them from there or just wait for the BES to do it.
this should remove the hidden Blackberry sync info folder from their mailbox (which you can see by using MFCMAPI)
