Exchange 2007 Distribution List Only Sending to 2 out 5 recipients
Hi,
I have created 5 contacts that point to SMS text e-mail addresses (ie 5556667777@txt.att.net) and placed them into a mail-enabled distribution group. When sending an e-mail to the individual contacts, they receive the text messages. When sending to the distribution group, only 2 of the contacts receive the text message. Reducing the number of members in the distribution group to 2 enables both recipients to receive the text message (including members who previously did not receive the sms, while 2 others did).
Checking the SMTP send log after attempting to email the full distribution group reveals that, indeed, only 2 messages were attempted:

I can't find any documentation regarding limits to the number of contacts one can e-mail at once, anything related to SMS text specifically (if the smtp server could even distinguish), but it does seem to be limiting me to 2 at one time.
Thanks in advance...

A distribution group does not contain a shortcut (pointer) to the members but a copy. That means that when you change a member's e-mail the DL will retain the old info. You need to recreate the DL to reflect the current information

Hello,
My guess would be that AT&T's email to SMS gateway is setup to accept only two recipients at a time to prevent someone from attempting to SPAM a large group of users. You can test that it isn't a problem on your system by creating a contact for a GMail or Yahoo! account and adding it to the distribution list. If a test meessage is sent successfully to the two AT&T addresses plus your GMail address, you know it isn't a problem on your end.
