I opened Vmware Virtual Network Editor then selected 'bridged' and 'bridged to automatic'
set static ip addresses on computer1 = 192.168.0.1
and set static ip addresses on computer2 = 192.168.0.2
(no dhcp)

If any security software is running on the host, I suggest that you disable the same and then try to access from the Virtual Machine.

There is absolutely no extra software installed. It is just the operating systems installed nothing else.
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

My view is since there are no physical cables attached, how do they see each other?
Is there away of connecting them virtually with a "virtual cross over cable"?
