Access 2003 XML Export Error 31532: MS Access was unable to export the data

I am using Access 2003 and Windows XP on both my laptop and desktop.  I have no problems with my desktop, but when I try and export a table as XML I receive an error "MS Access was unable to export the data."  I don't get the error code, but I was able to track down the code online.  No solution.

This applies to ANY table in ANY database no matter how large or small that I try and export.  I've done a complete install/reinstall, ran a detect and repair on it, and gone into Visual Basic to check the references.  Can't figure out why I can't export XML.

If you've re-installed the Access application I would think this issue would be in a difference between the OS's. Have you compared service packs and security updates? Maybe run Windows update on the laptop and see if any critical patches are missing...

Updates was the first thing I did.  Just to make sure I went into the updates and loaded (one by one) the updates just for access and received messages that they were already installed.
I should add that I was having the problem after upgrading to 2003 from 2000.  My old client was running 2000 so I kept that on my laptop and my new client has 2003 so I upgraded about a week ago.

My desktop never had 2000, so maybe it was an upgrade issue.  I installed a full version of 2003 after uninstalling a full version of 2000.  I'm going to try uninstalling everything one more time.
Try running Component checker (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8f0a8df6-4a21-4b43-bf53-14332ef092c9&displaylang=en). This will verify the install of MDAC on your machine. If you receive any warnings/messages, take whatever actions are suggested.
I noticed last night that I was running XP Pro 2002 SP 2 instead of SP3 like my desktop.  When I tried to install SP3 I get a security error so I'm looking into that now.  If that doesn't work I'll try your link.  Thanks!
I ran the Component checker and it showed a number of errors, but with that program I wasn't sure what to do about it.  Went to PCWorld.com and loaded Eusing Free Registry Cleaner 2.6

Loaded, updated, and ran.  It found 1,437 problems.  Had it fix those problems, then reran Component Checker and there were 7 dll errors.

Went to dlldump.com and one by one installed the updated dll files and registered them

Ran Component Checker again all the dll match errors were cleared up but I still had 9 HKey errors.  I'm not sure how to clear those up.

I'm beginning to think this may be either a spyware problem or a registry key that was accidentally removed when I uninstalled something.
Ran Spyware Doctor and only found some cookies, so I think I'm good there.  Also, updates that were previously refused are now being installed. I also still need to reinstall Office XP.  Access 2003 still will not allow me to export an XML at this point.
Came across KB904423
0x80070005 error after installing security update 841873

I requested the hotfix for Win XP SP2 - ran it and the other updates still do not load.  They all have error code 0x80070005
Another try: KB968003
--Make sure you are an administrator
--Reset permissions on the system using the SubInACL.exe tool
Reran Microsoft update and all updates installed with no problems!

Bummer - Access was unable to export the data problem persists
Noticed MS Update said I had hidden some updates (likely because they were not loading) so I restored them and they did not load.  BUMMER.

1 Successful update was a Security update for MS Visual C++.  All the failed updates were Security Updates for MS Office 2003.
Great = Reran CompChecker and the same 7 dll files are back to their older version.
Noticed MS Update said I had hidden some updates (likely because they were not loading) so I restored them and they did not load.  BUMMER.

1 Successful update was a Security update for MS Visual C++.  The failed updates were Security Updates for MS Office 2003 plus the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pak.

The service pak error code (0x643) led me to KB923100 which said the problem may be a corruption of the .NET framework or by an inconsistency on the MSI database.  Resolution was to manually remove and reinstall .NET Framework. (Note: all other updates had the error code 0x80070005)

I could not uninstall .NET 1.1 without the system disk which contains Netfx.msi.
Found the download for .NET 1.1 on Miscrosoft.com (dotnetfx.exe) and extracted the msi file
Finishing the complete uninstall/reinstall now.
Was able to uninstall .Net Framework, but could not install it again.  Was getting Windows Installer errors.  Am now troubleshooting Windows Installer.  Was able to get it reinstalled, but it does not show up in the Systems tab when I run msconfig.
I booted in safe mode and registered the Installer (msiexec /regserver) and it is now showing in the services tab when I run the msconfig, but it is stopped (and checked).  How do I get it running???

I uninstalled the .NET Framework like suggested in the Microsoft kb articles, and now can't get it installed.
The Windows Installer service may disabled on the machine.

1. Go to "Start" -> "Run" , type "services.msc" and press on "Enter" button.

2. Double-click on the service named "Windows Installer".

3. Check the value in the "Startup type:"  field. If it's currently set to "Disabled", then this is the problem. Change it by selecting "Manual" from the drop-down box.

This got it running, but it prompted me to reboot and after I did it was off again.  I went through the steps again to restart it.  This time it did not prompt me to restart and I went to msconfig and verfied it was running.  Started the exe file for .NET (lowest version) and got an error "Microsoft .NET Framework Setup has failed."  I rechecked msconfig and the Installer was stopped.

Still working with Microsoft to try and solve the error.  Keep having problems with Windows Installer and the .NET Framework that can't seem to be solved.  I'll get Win Installer working then it won't load the .NET Framework, then the installer won't work again.
Still working with Microsoft to fix the problem.  Will post every few days.
Still receiving errors, but here was something new they had me try:

From the current situation, it seems that Windows Installer service is still corrupted. This issue might be related with core system files. I am afraid that we might need to repair Windows XP to resolve this issue. Please be assured that I will do my best to help you avoid this trouble.

2. Save the zip file to the Desktop, and please right click on the zip file and choose Extract to extract all the contents to the Desktop.

3. Double-click the "Dial-a-fix.exe", check "Fix Windows Installer", and then click "Go".

After that, please check whether the debug tool can be installed now.

If any other error occurs, please help to capture a screenshot of it for further research.
